Fate and Cake
I met Seth and Emily through a stroke of fate and cake. While scrolling through Instagram, where there is a sea of possibilities of new friends and connections, Emily happened to see a picture of a cake made by Charlie of Deep Sea Sugar and Salt. I’m not sure if I can accurately describe what kismet this is. When Emily reached out, I asked how she found me. And she explained. That’s when I realized that I had found a foodie best friend for life.
I know Seth and Emily will be okay with me taking a little detour to explain why a cake by Deep Sea Sugar is so special. Charlie began her business a few years ago, first operating out of an amazing trailer in the Georgetown Antique Mall and now out of an old grocery store a few blocks away. Her cakes are beautiful, perfectly balanced, and totally made with passion. Emily and I are obsessed with them. Along with Seth, we all three are pretty much obsessed with the whole Seattle food scene.
That’s where we find ourselves for Seth and Emily’s engagement session. We spent 7 hours bouncing around from their house, to Sea Wolf Bakery, to the mural outside the Whale Wins, to Carkeek Park, to lunch at a sandwich shop that has completely slipped my mind. But Seth approved, and it’s on Ballard Ave, so just trust us, it was good.
For those curious, 7 hours is NOT normal for an engagement. It sort of just happened. And that’s why I love my job. I get to meet people that I wouldn’t normally and bond over silly things like amazing food and our awesome city.
I can’t WAIT for your wedding, you two! I know there’s still a lot to decide before September rolls around, but you have great taste. Trust your gut and have so much fun while you’re at it.
